Beaujolais
Situated in the north of Lyon, the Beaujolais region is known for their "typical" AOC (protected designation of origin) wines. Its red wines are for the 99% Gamay variety and its white wines, which represent only the 1% of the total production, are chardonnay grapes variety.
The "beaujolais nouveau" or "beaujolais primeur" is a wine from the same year, sold the third Thursday of November. This naming ,"Beaujolais nouveau", was launched in 1954 and played an important role in the wine promotion of the region. The beaujolais, unlike the "beaujolais nouveau", is sold during the year and it is one of the only wines, which can be adapted almost to all cooking.
